Outdoor drains which sprinklers and pools feed even during the summer become ideal hidden standing water for mosquitoes to breed.  We recommend going around your property and looking for any drain covers and see if there is water at the base.  You may need to use a flashlight to check and sometimes need to remove the cover.  Additionally, homeowners should go to their street and look for an outlet drain  which should be coming out of the curb.  If this opening is wet and leaking small amounts of water, the homeowner likely has water being held up or restricted which will be highly attractive to mosquitoes to leave their eggs.  Each female mosquito leaves 40-100 eggs each time they breed.  Once the eggs hatch and mature into adult mosquitoes, they will continue to use the outdoor pipes to move around the property and return to leave more eggs.  


HVAC drain lines – Especially when it has been as hot as it has been, the constant flow from the HVAC which either feeds into an outdoor drain or creates puddles in areas infrequently seen on customers properties provides ample water for mosquito larvae and breeding.  


Less of an issue, but still an area where mosquitoes breed is rain gutter which  and gutters which we never think of as it so infrequently rains in Los Angeles.  But during the hot summer, the marine layer creates dew that drains into the gutters and outdoor drain pipes.  If the gutters are full of leaves this creates a suitable habitat for both mosquitoes and no-seeums to breed.
